FOUNDATIONS PROJECT
MAKING A BETTER WORLD FOR OUR CHILDREN

The Foundations Project is a child advocacy organization in the suburbs of Harare, Zimbabwe. Its’ purpose is to care for the needs of preschool education and development for orphaned and vulnerable children in the community. It provides a place where children can grow, learn and receive nourishing food on a daily basis. Caregivers are a part of the ongoing program. They are the people who care for the children after school. They are taught basic entrepreneurship skills so that they can provide sustainable income to assist with the care and development of the children.
A couple of years ago, Alastair attended a fundraiser, not knowing the nature of the program, but saw this was a worthy cause and that Impact should assist. Since first visiting Foundations Project, Impact has provided significant assistance.

Sewing Machines
Impact International provided nine sewing machines for the ladies to make cushions, table cloths and clothes for sale to help them with their children’s needs.
The children needed proper toilets. They had no toilets or washing facilities. Impact and its sponsors were able to build a facility where the children could use a toilet and a place to wash themselves. This was a huge development and advancement to the program. Of course the staff and children love their new facilities.

A Well and Running Water
When the team from Impact visited recently, we saw how the Foundations Project got its water – a hole in the ground with a bucket to bring it to the surface – no running water. Here’s what we did! We saw the need – we gave the money – they dug a deep well (borehole) using solar energy with a new pump and now there is fresh running water. What a great day to see the smiles on the faces of the children as they could get running water for the very first time.
We can do more for these children. Help us make a difference!
