Laura Geddes-Paez

Daughter of founder Alastair Geddes, Laura Geddes-Paez was born in Zimbabwe, Africa and moved to the United States in 1983 along with her parents.

Laura completed her Bachelor’s degree at Messiah College in Pennsylvania where she met her husband, Rene. Laura currently attends law school at Nova Southeastern University in Fort Lauderdale where she is pursuing her J.D and specifically interested in International Law.

Early in 2008, however, Laura experienced significant tragedy in her life. Her best friend and close confidante of many years, Christy Paul, died suddenly at only thirty years of age. Naturally, Laura struggled through the loss and sought a way to put the heartache, pain and frustration into something positive that would leave a memorable legacy of Christy’s life.

Creation of Christy's House

After discussing her vision with her father and Christy’s family, an IMPACT project was born. Christy Paul was a wonderful Christian young lady that had a heart for children. Since college, Christy worked in foster care and international adoption, making parent’s dreams of having children come true. She loved her job and put all of her love and care into her work. She went above and beyond. Spirited and caring, she cherished her friendships and treated each and every person with dignity, respect, and care. Christy’s deep love for children inspired Laura’s vision of establishing an overseas orphanage in Christy’s name as a legacy to the future generations. Christy was a woman of God and will always be remembered as one that made a huge impact on the lives of those around her in her short thirty years.
